I bought this app the first week I got an iPhone and was blown away by all the features. As a drummer that only 3 years ago spent £700 on a synth drum I cant believe that this app does everything that the synth does as well as giving you a sequencer that actually works. Great value at £3. Definitely the best sequencer I have found on iTunes. Just need to be able to export the loops (next update please!)

awesome application dont have to sign up to anything its great for banging the drums you can even have lego drum kits, you can also save your data make your own tune its so so so so worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's fun and the keyboard mode for pitching is something beatmaker lacks...but it needs:
Pattern/song sequencer
Ability to kill samples on release
Reverse audio
Load your own sounds via wifi etc
Some effects assignable to specific pads
And I'd like to be able to make patterns longer than 4 bars as well....annoying trying to do long melodies....
Could be great with some development...

Beatmaker for Dummies

This app has a lot going for it with some nice preset banks and a great interface. It will allow you to record your own samples straight into an instrument pad too.
Easier to use than Beatmaker but then has a whole lot less features. The biggest problem is that you only have six patterns to play with which is way too small and there are only eight pads. There is no way of uploading your samples, everything has to be recorded via the mic.
That all sounds negative but it is a nice app to use. I expect version two to add a lot of features but for now the lack of pads and patterns is a big problem. Expect good things of this in the future.

Well designed app. Not as detailed as beatmaker but is lovely to use. Nice overdub and pitch change of samples. Update to 24 block patterns is brilliant, though it would be lovely to be able to programme each block to repeat a chosen number of times on playback. I would ask for wifi export and more steps per pattern / and groove adjustments but that would be greedy ( maybe some day). This is a lovely slick app. If you like making music it can help inspire. Buy it now, it is worth every penny! (unless you are a tight git).

Just 5 minutes after getting the FingerBeat, I was able to build my own rythm! The software is user friendly, it is extremely well designed and intuitive. It also sounds fabulous and you even have the option to build your own sample set (using your iphone microphone or pre installed samples). It also comes with a very complete and clear instructions manual. Overal, a fantastic piece of software for those musicians, djs, producers and others alike, that will bring you hours and hours of fun. Highly recommended.

iPod Touch 1g?

Update: after much fiddling I got it to install and it works great with my external mic. So not sure why it refuses to install without manual intervention. Too many apps these days seem to ignore the several million iPod touch 1g owners.

Description says microphone will only work with 2G and iPhone (makes sense) but the app refuses to install form iTunes on my iPod Touch 1G. Description should say it won't install at all rather than letting me buy it. I need a refund sadly as this looks like a great app.
